For those having a tougher time than others making ends meet during this pandemic, we’ve set up a Little Free Pantry outside The Hive (25520 S Pheasant Lane outside unit J in Channahon). Stop by and take what you need.
We want to thank the Will County Farm Bureau for a donation they sent to us from their Local Foods Program, we used it to stock our little free pantry for the first time! The pantry is available now and still has some room for donations, and if the pantry is full and you’d like to contribute, please feel free to drop donations at the kitchen during regular weekday business hours noon-6pm and we will move items in as needed.
Some ideas for donations: dry pasta, rice, boxed potatoes, soups, canned tuna or chicken, canned ravioli, cans or plastic jars of pasta sauce, crackers, peanut butter, plastic bottles of jelly, cereal, oatmeal, boxed Mac and cheese, canned fruit or vegetables, plastic jars of applesauce, baby food, powdered formula, diapers, toilet paper, toothpaste, mouthwash, bars of soap, shampoo, feminine hygiene products. Everything must be non-perishable. I’m also going to allow canned pet food donations as there are people who have pets and need help feeding them as well.
We will post regular updates on what’s available in the pantry. Let’s see how this goes! if you know someone who would be interested in knowing the location of the free pantry, please share the post.
